Roadrunners Basketball is a youth basketball developmental program designed to grow youth basketball in Marion County. They teach youth at all levels fundamentals that will improve their skills. Roadrunners Basketball hosts leagues, camps, clinics, and lessons year round to help provide quality basketball instruction to boys and girls of all ages.
The Roadrunners Basketball Staff consists mainly of the Vanguard High School Boys Basketball Staff along with high level, knowledgeable volunteers from around Marion County. Coach Phillip Small and his staff (Todd Davis, Danny Smith, Jordan Smith, Bill Monigan) have the Vanguard program back among the top programs in the area. The have made four consecutive playoff appearances as well as placing in the top 12 in the state in overall GPA over that four-year span. Coach Small has averaged over 20 wins per year the past four seasons, sent 12 players on to the college level over the past eight years, and capped off the 2017 season with a run to the FHSAA State Final Four, the first state appearance for the school in 35 years (1982).
Attendees at Roadrunners will be given detailed instruction tailor made to their age and ability level. It is the goal of Roadrunners Basketball to provide a fun, positive learning environment and increase interest in basketball for kids across Marion County.
